Global Business Services (GBS) is one of IBM’s brands on the business consulting field, which IBM has been promoting in the last few years in order to change its image as a IT-only company.
55.000 professionals work at GBS around the world for companies localted in more than 170 countries. The acquisition of PricewaterhouseCoopers – 2002, doubled the number of consultants in GBS.
The main idea of GBS is to provide solutions to its customers using high technology to promote, boost and achieve business objectives.
GBS provides a wide range of services which can be split into vertical services and horizontal services.
- Vertical services are those for business development and sales.
- Horizontal services include IT services, human capital consulting.
The difference resides mainly in that vertical services are provided as specific services and horizontal services are process services.
