Action movies I've seen in 2009 so far

So far, these are the action movies I’ve seen. This list does not take preferences into account, they are merely a small review of several action movies I’ve seen worth writing a review. I’ll probably write another list with my most preferred action movies at the end of the year.

12 rounds

Director: Renny Harlin
Actors: John Cena

12 rounds is about a kind and honest police officer who gets involved with a pretty nasty criminal. The police officer heroically arrests the criminal but in the process the criminal’s girlfriend falls dead. After some time, the criminal breaks out of prison and uses the death of her girlfriend as an excuse to start a vengeance which results in a planned mint robbery.

The action is guaranteed, but unrealistically: too much action in too little time. The argument is too common – kidnapping and threatening, heroism of the main character, at the end hero rescues his lover.

Fighting

Director: Dito Montiel
Actors: Channing Tatum

Fighting is about a boxer who arrives at New York searching for a living. Lately he finds himself tangled up in an underground fighting club. It reminds me of “The fight club” which the main character was interpreted by Brad Pitt. The main argument is very similar, but I definitely prefer “The fight club” over it.

However there are some fighting scenes that I like such the [following] scene, though the fighting style and techniques are not very sophisticated or worked out; and I particularly like the soundtracks of this movie [and example at the bottom].

Piece of fighting’s soundtrack

[Bit bad quality because I recorded it with mic, so you should raise the volume.]

Put (Путь)

Director:Vladimir Pasichnik
Actors: Pawel Delag, Dzhamal Azhigirey, Aleksandr Baranov

This is a story about a russian marine who was trained as a Shao-lin pupil and thereafter he is recruited by the government to carry out a mission about a nuclear weapon. He has as partners other three guys who are trained also for this special mission. I didn’t understand the details since I have no idea of russian and the only chance I had to understand the movie was looking at chinese simplified subtitles.

The art of war

This is really a bad action movie. Of course, the title has nothing to do with the plot, and in fact it is wrongly used in any sense. Art of war is a Chinese popular strategic historical book – very famous you should take a look at it, but the plot is about an international affair with north Korean mafia trafficking with nuclear bomb. As you can see the plot is also a very usual with nothing remarkable. During the conflict, an agent is sent to investigate whom falls in love with a Korean girl, firstly kidnapped by him to find clues, and how not, eventually sleeping with her… Nothing worth to see, in addition low quality screenplay.
